The City of Fort St. John currently maintains two cemeteries: established in 1931, The Fort St. John Cemetery is located on 100th Avenue. Just north of the city is the Woodlawn Cemetery, established in 1978.

 

Both cemeteries feature columbariums, and niche reservations are now available. plots are only available in the Woodlawn cemetery.

 

The cemeteries are open to the public from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. everyday. Interment is permitted between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday to Friday. An additional fee will be charged For burial on a Saturday, Sunday or Statutory Holiday.

 

Procedures:
Burial arrangements may be made with a funeral home or with the City. You must obtain all the appropriate permits and pay all fees before interment may take place.
You must supply the following information to apply for a permit:


- name
- age
- date of death
- a certificate of registration of death (indicating whether the death was caused by a communicable

disease) time and date of the funeral

 

Grave Space License Fees:

Flat Marker Section
(only tablets that are installed flush with the existing ground level are permitted. Upright memorials require City Council approval.)
