Tourism is one of Fort St. John’s up-and-coming industries. From the busy Alaska Highway RV traffic in the summer, to athletes competing in sporting events, Fort St. John is always buzzing with activity.

Fort St. John is also busy with hundreds of events every year. The High on Ice Winter Carnival, Great Canadian Welding Competition, North Peace Fall Fair, Peace River Festival of Performing Arts, and the Peace River Zone Theatre Festival are just a few of the fantastic events the city has to offer.

For outdoor enthusiasts, Fort St. John offers many adventures within a short drive of the city. Numerous lakes and rivers offer excellent fishing; stay over at one of our many near-by Provincial Parks; or try one of the hiking and walking trails in the area.

If golf is more your speed, there are three courses located within 15 minutes of the city and another four within 1.5 hours.

Being the largest city in Northeast BC , Fort St. John is the service centre of the area. There are several large grocery stores and department stores; great shopping at nationally known stores and numerous unique, locally owned stores; and other essential services such as gas stations, auto repair shops, and health care.
