The Great Canadian Welder’s Competition invites Canada ’s top welders to Fort St John to participate in a 29 hour welding competition. Given only a theme to work from, participants show off their talents and creativity when they create their welding masterpieces. Participants must provide their own materials & equipment.
Entry Fee : $50.00. Entry Deadline is 4:00pm August 2, 2007 . All out-of-province participants required to purchase a permit to bring their welding materials into British Columbia will have the amount of the permit deducted from the entry fee.
Date & Time: August 4 at 9:00am until August 5 at 1:00pm
Location: Centennial Park , Fort St John , BC
Theme: It's a Secret! (Provided to participants at 9:00am August 4. ie: sports, wildlife, etc.)
Judging: All artwork, whether created in the park or not, will be on display at Centennial Park by no later than 1:30pm August 5. Judging will take place at 2:00pm local time by the Fort St John Arts Council. The Awards Ceremony will be held at 3:00pm .
Participation Categories - New for 2007, there will be 8 different categories for participants to enter .
Novice Category - Grand Prize: $2000
Family Category – Grand Prize $2000
Apprentice Category – Grand Prize $5000
Open Category: Competitors must enter one of the following
- Artwork 1.5m or larger welded in a Shop= Grand Prize $8000
- Artwork 1.5 m or larger welded in Centennial Park = Grand Prize $6000
- Artwork <1.5M welded in a Shop=Grand Prize $4000
- Artwork <1.5m welded in Centennial Park Grand Prize $3000
Total Prize money available: Over $30,000!
Plus, Three random prize draws of $300.00 for mobile welders who construct their sculptures in Centennial Park.
